How to dress up for a 70s party?
It's Saturday night, your best friend's birthday. Birthday in disguise of course, with a seventies theme. And there's panic. You have NO idea of a costume! Fortunately, we are also here for that, we master disguises, BAC+5 equivalence. So let's start with the basics, the atmosphere: the seventies are half-funky, half-hippie. We can choose to do a mix of the two at the risk of playing the game a little too thoroughly or we go with a disco-sequins-funky or hipster-Woodstock-psychedelic disguise. Can you roughly visualize it? It givesleggings, jumpsuits or sequined dresses with wig and very flashy disco accessories, or the more chill version: colorful psychedelic prints, bell bottom jumpsuit, hair band, afro wig and hippie accessories. In fact we are inspired by icons of the 70s like Jane Birkin, France Gall, BB, Cloclo, Bowie, Abba (perfect for a common costume)... It's up to you to choose your atmosphere!
What decoration for my seventies party?
For your decor, it's the same as for your disguise: you choose your atmosphere. If you're going for Claude François/Abba/disco dance, you'll need disco balls, silver balloons, disco tableware, mylar curtains, iridescent paper rosettes, heavy metallic glitter... Let's dance! And if you're more of a Woodstock type, then we're going for bright colors, psycho prints, flowers, lace, retro hippie, a WW jumpsuit if you have it, flower crowns... Balloons, lanterns, garlands, accessories, we has everything you need for a seventies boogie wonderland party!
What should we listen to for a 70s party?
Ahhhh the 70s! It's Alexandrie Alexandra by Claude François, it's the release of the album Let it Be by the Beatles or I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, in 1977. In 1975, we discovered for the first time the crazy Bohemian Rapsody by Queen while the Beatles had already separated for five years! On the radio, we heard Simon and Garfunkel, the Rolling Stones, Dalida, Sacha Distel and Marvin Gaye. Elvis made his comeback on stage, in Vegas in his huge show and Jacques Brel bid us farewell... You will have understood, the 70s is the decade of eclecticism, of the new, of the very fresh, of the boundless creativity
